CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson University is getting a gift of $1 million from a family with three generations of graduates of the school.
The university said in a statement Thursday that the money from the family of retired Navy Capt. Wilbur Ginn Jr. is donating the money for the school's engineering, arts and humanities programs and the library.
Wilbur Ginn Sr. graduated from Clemson in 1911 with a degree in electrical engineering. His son graduated in 1941 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Wilbur Ginn III graduated in 1969 as an English major.
The money is being divided among endowments for both electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as the Humanities in the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities and the school's libraries.
