COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (AP) — Two bullets struck a portable classroom at an elementary school near Miami, narrowly missing a student inside.

Miami-Dade school district Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said during a news conference outside the school Thursday morning that the shots were fired in the neighborhood surrounding the Coconut Grove-area school.

He says one of the bullets struck a window, shattering the glass. It then struck a wall on the other side of the room and fell onto the floor a foot away from one of the four students with disabilities in the Frances Tucker Elementary School classroom.

Carvalho says no one was injured.

He says it was the second drive-by shooting near a Miami-Dade County school in less than 24 hours. On Wednesday police investigated a shooting outside Carol City High School.
