ASOTIN, Wash. (AP) — Trial is set to begin for a Clarkston man charged with killing a woman whose body was found dumped near Chestnut Beach.
The Lewiston-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1NYYgMI ) that 54-year-old Bisar Muhammad's trial will start Monday in Asotin County Superior Court. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and rape in the 2014 death of 69-year-old Lewiston resident Ina Clare Richardson.
Muhammad was arrested in November 2014, days after Richardson was reportedly last seen walking toward Muhammad's car in a grocery store parking lot in Clarkston.
Muhammad is being represented by attorney Vic Bottomly.
Prosecutors have declined to seek the death penalty in the case, citing Washington Gov. Jay Inslee's call for no executions in the state during his tenure as governor.
