SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man accused of stealing two cars and causing a fatal car crash is facing murder and robbery charges.
Prosecutors filed four felony charges Friday against 27-year-old Anthony Santos Cruz.
Police say he and a woman stole a Mazda 6 at knife point in Kaysville, and drove it until it apparently ran out of gas along Interstate 15 on Monday.
Unified Police Officer stopped to help them on the side of the road. Police say that when the officer grew suspicious, Cruz managed to carjack a Volkswagen that had stopped.
He sped away onto the Centerville exit ramp, but broadsided another car, killing 21-year-old Jazmyn Jeppson.
No attorney was immediately listed for Cruz in court records.
