SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Colorado man has died from injuries he suffered a year ago after the gasoline tanker he was driving crashed and exploded in Utah.
The mother of 28-year-old Leslie Shelton tells KSL-TV (http://bit.ly/1Oyg9W7) in Salt Lake City that her son died Friday.
Fran Buchnoff says her son never left a burn center in Salt Lake City and had to fight daily to survive.
The Utah Highway Patrol says Shelton, of Fruita, was hauling 8,500 gallons of gasoline on Nov. 28, 2014 when he tried to go from I-15 to U.S. 6 in Spanish Fork.
They say the tanker went off the ramp for an unknown reason and down an embankment, resulting in an explosion.
Shelton suffered third-degree burns on 60 percent of his body.
