RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Investigators say a man accused of shooting his wife to death in front of the couple's children on the Wind River Indian Reservation was upset over an argument about painkillers.
The Riverton Ranger reports (http://goo.gl/qkY76e ) 51-year-old Koby Dean Johnson made his initial court appearance Tuesday on a charge of first-degree murder for the death of Rachel Noel Sapohoors. She was a 36-year-old nursing student at Central Wyoming College and was commonly known as Noel Johnson.
FBI special agent Christine Coble says three of the couple's eight children saw Johnson shoot Sapohoors while pinning her down on the floor in a bedroom Saturday. Investigators say the children told them they thought the attack had to do with a fight over pills.
It's unclear if Johnson has hired an attorney.
