SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police have arrested a man accused of stealing mail from at least 1,000 people in and around the city of Draper.
Police said Wednesday that 35-year-old Kevin Humphreys took the mail out of people mailboxes around Salt Lake County.
Investigators had suspected Humphreys was responsible for reported increase in such thefts, and arrested him Tuesday after he tried to cash a forged check in Midvale.
Officers say they found the stolen mail during a search of his home and are now trying to return it to its owners.
No attorney was immediately listed for Humphreys in court records, and his public phone numbers were disconnected.
