TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The University of Tampa has announced a capital campaign seeking to raise $150 million.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/1GUkcMw ) reports $135 million has already been pledged to the campaign, called "Creating Tomorrow — The Campaign for the University of Tampa."

In a news release published Friday, the university said the campaign seeks to grow the university's endowment, build new facilities and support academic programs.

UT President Ronald Vaughn says an anonymous benefactor has issued a pledge to give $1 for every $2 raised, up to $10 million.

The university says since its last campaign —which began in the late 1990s and ended in 2005 — the university has increased enrollment by 77 percent, increased academic programs from 80 to 200 and increased institutional aid to students by 139 percent.
