HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Children are getting a lesson in clean air from state environmental officials.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and University of Connecticut Healthy Environments for Children Initiative have developed a children's book on air quality. It's called "Casey's Clean Air Week" and is intended to teach children about the importance of clean air to protect human health and the environment.
Rob Klee, environmental commissioner, is scheduled to give the first reading of the book Tuesday to kindergartners in New Haven.
Printed copies of Casey's Clean Air Week and a companion guide will be distributed to Connecticut public and private elementary schools, libraries, day care centers and pediatric offices.
A companion guide for parents, guardians and teachers and children's activity book also has been developed
