CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A former Boy Scouts leader who distributed child pornography over the Internet has been sentenced in New Jersey to 20 years in prison.

Gerrett Conover was sentenced Thursday in Camden. He had pleaded guilty to a count of distribution of child porn. A 13-count indictment unsealed in 2013 also had charged him with sexual exploitation of children.

The 50-year-old resident of Woolwich Township in Gloucester County was arrested in 2012 while crossing the Canadian border into New York.

Department of Homeland Security investigators had identified Conover through Internet chat rooms and file-sharing websites.

A criminal complaint described images of child porn found on Conover's computers, some depicting sexual acts involving young boys.

Pictures of Conover wearing a Scouts uniform and accompanying boys on scouting trips also were found.
