WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal drug agents arrested more than 90 people and seized 16 underground labs in a 20-state operation targeting illegal steroids.
The Drug Enforcement Administration says since April drug agents also seized 134,000 doses of illegal steroids, more than 1,300 pounds of raw steroid powder, nearly 2,100 gallons of raw steroid liquid and more than $2 million in cash. Agents from the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were also part of the agency's "Operation Cyber Juice."
The five-month operation concluded with nine arrests Tuesday.
The DEA says many of the drugs seized in the secret labs are believed to have been obtained over the Internet from Chinese chemical manufacturing companies and converted into powerful steroids in the clandestine labs.
