SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — University of Utah officials are celebrating the grand opening of a $62.5 million law school building.
Sen. Orrin Hatch and Gov. Gary Herbert are scheduled to be at a grand opening event Monday morning alongside university president David Pershing and Robert Adler, dean of the S.J. Quinney College of Law.
University spokeswoman Melinda Rogers says the building was paid for entirely through contributions from donors led by the college's main supporter, the S.J. and Jesse E. Quinney Foundation.
Rogers says other donations came from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the university, law firms and alumni. They also received help from a nonprofit called the Alternative Visions Fund to help make the facility energy efficient and sustainable.
The law school has been housed in a building that was built in 1963.
