BALTIMORE (AP) — Police say an officer shot a man in the face in southwest Baltimore after the man ran his car into a cruiser.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire Monday night and police say they approached a car in the area.

That's when police say the driver reversed into the cruiser and the officer fired at the driver. Officials say the man wasn't fatally wounded and the officer had minor injuries.

Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis says the man drove around a corner and surrendered, telling police he was armed. Police searched for a second man who fled the vehicle.

Officers escorted a gathering crowd away from the area and Davis says two people were arrested for disorderly conduct and hindering a police investigation.
