BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has appointed 3rd District Judge Molly J. Huskey to the Idaho Court of Appeals.

Otter announced Thursday that Huskey will replace Judge Karen Lansing, who is retiring after 22 years of service.

Huskey's appointment is effective immediately.

In a prepared statement, Otter praised Huskey's public service experience.

Huskey has previously served as a public defender for the Idaho State Appellate, chief of the Appellate Unit for the State of Idaho, and was a former deputy prosecuting attorney and a deputy public defender for Bonneville County. She also is a member of the Idaho Public Defense Commission.

Huskey received her law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1993.
