LINCOLN, Ill. (AP) — The newly installed president of Lincoln College says the central Illinois school will become a university with the addition of baccalaureate degrees.

David Gerlach assumed the presidency two weeks ago after working at the State University of New York-Canton.

He tells WTAX-Radio that Lincoln College already is working to add baccalaureate degrees at is Normal and Lincoln campuses.

Gerlach says there will be three new programs in the fall, and up to seven will be added to the five already available at the Normal campus.

He says master's degree and doctorate programs also likely will be added in the next several years.

Lincoln College has primarily focused on two-year and certificate programs in recent years.
