NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State University trustees have approved a 1.6 percent increase in tuition and fees in response to expected cuts in state funding.
WJBC radio reports (http://bit.ly/1FKYaHT ) the school's Board of Trustees made the decision Saturday. It affects incoming students. There will be no increase in room and board rates.
ISU President Larry Dietz says the board tried to keep the increase modest "in light of the tough economic situations all over the state." He says the school wants to keep its costs "realistic and reasonable."
The increase means new in-state freshmen will pay $359 per credit hour and out-of-state freshmen will pay $620 per credit hour. In-state graduate students will pay $374 per credit hour and out-of-state graduate students will pay $777.
