PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Volunteer dentists and hygienists are holding a clinic to offer free dental work to Rhode Islanders without dental insurance.
The nonprofit Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation is holding its 4th annual Mission of Mercy free dental clinic Saturday and Sunday.
It's taking place at the dental hygiene clinic at the Community College of Rhode Island's Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Last year about 625 volunteers treated nearly 800 patients.
The nonprofit says its goal is to treat 1,000 people this year who are uninsured, underinsured or otherwise unable to get dental care.
The services will include cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, X-rays, oral health education, fillings, tooth extractions, some root canal treatments and minor denture repairs.
Doors open at 6 a.m. and remain open until the clinic reaches capacity.
