BOSTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has announced plans to host a conference on aging at the White House in July.
A regional forum Thursday at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate in Boston provided opportunities for Americans to engage in policy discussions, submit input on their priorities, and share their stories ahead of the July event. It followed forums in Tampa, Phoenix, Seattle and Cleveland.
On July 13, Obama will follow up with a White House conference on aging.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act, as well as the 80th anniversary of Social Security.
The White House has held a conference on aging each decade since the 1960s to look for ways to improve the lives of older Americans.
