DUCHESNE, Utah (AP) — A former Tabiona town councilman will spend the next month in jail for sending sexually explicit messages to a teenage girl.
Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1dZddED ) that a judge ordered Jason Dan Hoyt to serve 30 days in a Duchesne County Jail and two years on probation. The married father of three must also pay a $500 fine, complete counseling and pay for any counseling the victim needs.
Hoyt pleaded guilty in March to misdemeanor charges of lewdness and stalking.
During a preliminary hearing in the case, the 14-year-old girl testified that Hoyt sent her sexually explicit Facebook messages.
Hoyt told the judge Monday that he accepts responsibility for the heartache he has caused the victim, her family and his own family. He says he wants his "normal life" back.
