RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (AP) — The dean of students at a Ridgefield high school has been suspended after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
The Connecticut Post reports (http://bit.ly/1ER9GRs ) Kevin Callahan was also charged with distracted driving, failure to drive right and failure to carry a valid insurance card by Fairfield police Sunday.
Police say the 52-year-old struck a traffic sign in the center of the road and then hit a tree. Officers say they detected a strong smell of alcohol while dealing with Callahan and found a half-empty bottle of vodka in his car.
Callahan has also been a physical education teacher and varsity football coach at Ridgefield High since 1999.
Online court records didn't list an attorney for Callahan who could comment on the charges.
