IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Organizers of a bicycle ride aimed at raising awareness of organ donations are encouraging people to sign up for the June event.
The first Organ Trail bike ride will be held June 13, with riders starting in North Liberty and choosing between 20-mile and 40-mile loops.
Registration costs $30, with the proceeds going toward public information campaigns about organ donation.
The event is sponsored by nonprofits Pedal for Life, Garrett's Path and the Iowa Donor Network.
Pedal for Life founder Dave Full says more than 100,000 people in the U.S. are awaiting organ transplants.
