PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence police have identified a woman who died after being shot inside a car that crashed into a fence outside a city elementary school.
Police say 21-year-old Briana Giorgio of Cranston was found in the car outside Webster Elementary School on Wednesday night and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
No arrests have been announced. Police say they believe Giorgio was driving the car and was shot at close range by someone inside the vehicle.
Giorgio's death was the second homicide in the city this year, and the second killing in two days. Twenty-four-year-old Ashley Masi was found dead Tuesday night in an apartment on River Avenue.
