NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (AP) — A top administrator at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been selected as the next president of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Trustees announced Thursday that Greg Summers will become the 12th president of the state-run school in North Adams starting in July.

The appointment is subject to the approval of the state Board of Higher Education, which meets Tuesday.

Summers, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, succeeds Mary Grant, who left in December after 12 years to serve as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

Trustees Chairman Tyler Fairbank says Summers stood out because of his "impressive credentials, leadership experience, and long standing commitment to and passion for public higher education."
