SMITHVILLE, Texas (AP) — The superintendent of a Central Texas school district says a teacher has been placed on administrative leave following accusations the employee made a racial comment to students in the classroom.
The Smithville district's superintendent says an investigation earlier this week gave officials reason to believe they have good cause to recommend to the school board that the teacher be fired. The teacher's name hasn't been released.
A special school board meeting has been set for Thursday night. The board is expected to consider the termination of the teacher's contract.
