ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Police say a drunken, recently jailed central Pennsylvania man broke his ex-girlfriend's glass door and viciously kicked her pregnant pit bull.

Robert Schandelmeier faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on simple assault, cruelty to animals, disorderly conduct and other charges.

He's jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail. Online court records didn't list information on a lawyer to comment on the charges.

The Altoona Mirror reports (http://bit.ly/1aJKYrR) Schandelmeier was arrested early Saturday after police say he stuck his foot in his ex-girlfriend's storm door, pounded and kicked the glass, threatened the woman and her 14-year-old son and assaulted the dog.

Police say the 33-year-old Schandelmeier was picking up personal belongings his ex-girlfriend kept for him while he was in jail, including two pit bulls they'd owned together.
