BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) — A 25-year-old Sandy man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he met on social media.

Christopher Padilla was booked Wednesday into the Davis County Jail on charges of enticing a minor over the Internet and unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Police say the suspect arranged to meet the girl after 11 p.m. Feb. 12 in Bountiful. He drove her to a city park, where he's accused of undressing her, then touching and kissing her.

After her mother contacted police, the suspect texted a detective who posed as the girl and arranged another meeting for Wednesday night at Boulton Elementary School in Bountiful.

Padilla was arrested when he showed up.

Police say the incident is a reminder for parents to monitor their children's online activities.
