CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A 20-year-old Carson City woman has been arrested on charges accusing her of fraudulently cashing checks and stealing more than $6,500 from an elderly woman.
Washoe County sheriff's deputies say Christen Chamberlin was serving as a caretaker for the woman in Incline Village.
They say she was charged on Wednesday with several counts, including exploitation of an older and vulnerable person, forgery and larceny less than $3,500 from a person 60 or older.
The fraud was discovered after the victim noticed inconsistencies in her bank account. She then called Chamberlin's employer and the sheriff's office.
Chamberlin's bail was set at $50,000.
