SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — A woman accused of driving a car into an Ohio river in a crash that killed a 4-year-old boy was charged Monday with aggravated vehicular homicide and other counts.

Lindsey Gundlach, 32, of Huron, was held on $750,000 bond after she appeared by video arraignment in Erie County on Monday morning, less than 12 hours after the crash in Milan Township, the Sandusky Register (http://bit.ly/1t0vB6u ) reported.

Gundlach had a blood-alcohol content of 0.127 percent, above Ohio's legal limit of 0.08 percent for drivers, police said. She also faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and child endangering. No attorney is listed for her.

Gundlach's passengers were her friend's 4-year-old son, Javin Jaques, and 7-year-old daughter, said Sheriff Paul Sigsworth. Gundlach had been backing out of the friend's driveway and failed to stop when she reached a road. Her vehicle traveled across the road into the river around 11 p.m. Sunday.

The children's mother dived into the river, the sheriff's office said. The girl was freed and taken to shore, but the boy could not be retrieved from the sinking vehicle.

Divers were called to locate Javin and remove him from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Sigsworth said that judging by statements at the scene, the boy was in a child's seat and his sister was in a booster seat. He said that would be part of the investigation.
