SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A group of demonstrators blocked streets and freeway ramps in Salt Lake City to protest what it called "police brutality" and "the police state."
With traffic backed up behind them, about 40 people marched on downtown streets Friday night while holding a banner reading, "All Cops Enforce Inequality."
The group then blocked at least two ramps leading to and from Interstates 15 and 80 while chanting, "Hands up, don't shoot" and "I can't breathe."
Utah Highway Patrol troopers were sent to the scene to keep protesters away from the freeways.
No arrests or injuries were reported.
The protest follows the fatal shootings by white officers of unarmed blacks Michael Brown of Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner of New York.
Grand juries declined to indict officers in both cases.
