ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — The University of Georgia's veterinary school is set to host a conference on shelter medicine.
The university says the seventh annual Shelter Medicine Symposium is set for Jan. 11. The event focuses on best practices in medicine and management for local and regional animal shelters.
Organizers encourage attendance by veterinarians and others who work in animal control facilities, humane societies and animal rescue groups in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Keynote speaker Wendy Wolfson, a clinical assistant professor of shelter medicine at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, is set to discuss that school's shelter medicine program and their community involvement efforts.
There is no fee to attend, but participants must register by Jan. 1.
