Inmate serving time for murder conviction dies

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a 73-year-old convicted murderer died at a Carson City prison hospital.

Nevada Department of Corrections Officials said Gary Blevins died Dec. 11 at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

Officials say an autopsy was planned.

Blevins was serving two consecutive sentences of 10 years to life for first-degree murder in Clark County and using a deadly weapon.

He had been in prison since December 1990.
