PRICE, Utah (AP) — A man who was linked to an armed grocery store robbery by fingerprints on a note he left behind has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison.
KSL reports (http://bit.ly/11z7sH5 ) Dominic Matthew Martinez was sentenced Monday for the robbery, which happened a year ago at a Smith's store in Price. He was also ordered to pay $2,200 in restitution to the store.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Martinez walked into the store, showed a clerk a handgun and gave her a note demanding money.
Officials say the clerk gave him money and Martinez left, but he left his note behind.
State crime lab technicians matched Martinez to fingerprints on the note.
Police also interviewed a woman who admitted to driving Martinez in a getaway car. She's set for sentencing Dec. 16.
