SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police in Orem are trying to figure out who attempted to use a front end loader to steal an ATM outside a bank Tuesday morning.
Orem Police Department Lt. Craig Martinez says officers are reviewing video from surveillance cameras outside the Bank of American Fork.
Christopher Liechty with Bank of American Fork says the thief connected the front end loader to the ATM around 4:30 a.m. and tried to carry it away.
Liechty told the Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1zJAjbb) the ATM was left nearby but it was left intact with the cash inside.
He estimates the attempted theft caused $30,000 to $40,000 in damage to the area and the post the ATM sat on.
