HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead after a fire in an apartment complex in Henderson.

City spokeswoman Kathleen Richards says firefighters were called about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday to the Sunset Hills apartments on Bluegrass Lane, near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Windmill Parkway.

Firefighters reported smoke coming from a second-story window and tried to get in through the door, but saw the floor was damaged and went in through the window instead.

Richards says the fire was limited to a space between the first- and second-floor units.

Crews who were investigating found one person dead in the second-floor unit. The person's name, gender and age haven't yet been released.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
