SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old man is dead after a shooting that followed a house party in Salt Lake City.

Police say Cesar Gaxiola was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and died later that day.

Investigators say it appears a group that had attended a house party ended up in the area of 600 South and 900 East, where the shooting happened.

Wilking says police have interviewed the suspected shooter, but added that there are "mitigating circumstances" and the gunman has not been arrested.
