SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah senator says the state should prepare more students for high-tech careers by teaching them computer coding.

Draper Republican Sen. Howard Stephenson says he wants students to learn computer coding starting as early as elementary school.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1tzZlVm) Utah doesn't teach coding that early but 14 other states do.

Stephenson says he's planning to run legislation addressing computer coding during the next session in January.
