PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. (AP) — State police say 19-year-old student found dead near a lakeshore on an Adirondack college campus had a seizure that led to his drowning.

An autopsy Wednesday determined that Nicolas Pendl died of accidental drowning due to a known, preexisting seizure disorder.

His body was found on the shoreline of Lower St. Regis Lake around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Smith's College in Franklin County. Troopers say he was face-down in the water a short distance behind a dormitory.

Pendl was from the town of Allegany in Cattaraugus County.
