HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A veteran Meriden teacher and a consultant to nonprofit organizations are the latest nominees to the Connecticut State Board of Education.
Erin Benham, of Wallingford, is a literacy teacher who has taught in the Meriden Public Schools for 35 years. She's also president of the Meriden Federation of Teachers and Executive Committee Vice President of the Connecticut American Federation of Teachers.
Maria Isabel Mojica of Hamden works as an independent consultant, advising nonprofits on strategic planning, research and other matters. She also served as Vice President for Program with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
Both women were appointed last week by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. Their nominations require confirmation by the General Assembly.
Michael Caminear of Branford and Megan Amalie Foell of Thomaston were appointed student board members.
