SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 40-year-old man has died after an explosion and fire at his northern Utah house.
According to a statement issued by his family, Paul Broadhust died Friday night at University Hospital's burn unit in Salt Lake City.
Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion before the fire broke out Friday morning and destroyed Broadhust's home in Draper. He was the only one at home at the time.
The blast also damaged a neighbor's house and prompted evacuations of other neighbors' homes as a precaution.
The cause of the 7:30 a.m. fire is under investigation.
Broadhust's family issued a statement thanking medical personnel who assisted him and asking for privacy during the grieving process.
