SMYRNA, Del. (AP) — Police in Smyrna say they've arrested a former high school teacher and charged her with sexual abuse of a child.

Police say former Smyrna High School teacher Jennifer Suarez performed oral sex on a 17-year-old boy inside her classroom in February. A police affidavit says the alleged incident happened after school as another student stood outside the room's closed door.

The 37-year-old Suarez was arrested Friday. She was a math teacher and coach of the school's cross-country team but resigned from the school while she was under investigation for the alleged incident.

Suarez is free on $20,000 bail. She did not appear to have a listed telephone number.
