WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama plans to visit Asia in April.

That word came from his national security adviser, Susan Rice, during a speech Wednesday about the region. Rice didn't say which countries the president would visit.

Rice says the Obama administration was disappointed that the partial government shutdown in October forced Obama to cancel a trip to Asia.

She says Obama's visit in April will allow him to continue strengthening U.S. ties across Asia.
