LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A timber company is planning to log and subdivide portions of its 39,000 acres of private land in northern Idaho that's part of a stalled exchange for public land. The deal involves a combination of purchasing and trading public land to obtain the 39,000 acres owned byWestern Pacific Timber Co. The timber company land includes habitat for threatened steelhead and bull trout.

POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Police in the north Idaho community of Post Falls say they have arrested a man after finding the bodies of a woman and a young girl in his apartment. Police say the man was taken into custody after a neighbor called to say he told her he had strangled his wife and young daughter. None of the three was immediately identified.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho State Police say authorities have recovered the bodies of two people killed when the vehicle they were riding in crashed into the Lochsa River. Authorities told the Lewiston Tribune that they believe the driver fell asleep and tried to help the victims once they were in the river but was unable to get them out. Water levels in the river initially prevented police from recovering the bodies.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Experts say a dinosaur fossil bed in eastern Idaho containing some 200 specimens could be the most important site in the state. Retired paleontologist Steve Robison tells KIFI-TV that he and L.J. Krumenacker have found four or five new species over the last year.
