(AP) - DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL: The first ex-employee of Bernard Madoff to testify at the New York trial of five former employees says he rarely questioned his former boss as the money rolled in. David Kugel said he was instrumental in concocting phony trades. But he always kept his mouth shut, and never suspected a Ponzi scheme.
BIG GAINS: Prosecutors are seeking to use Kugel's testimony to show how he and other insiders purposely stayed blindly loyal to Madoff while becoming wealthy off his fraud.
$68 BILLION SCAM: The world now knows that what Madoff was paying out as profits was actually the cash flow from new investors _ the largest Ponzi scheme in history. A court-appointed trustee has recovered much of the $20 billion lost by forcing customers who received big payouts to return the funds.
