KATY, Texas (AP) — The Latest on a fatal shooting at a Texas transportation company (all times local):

4 p.m.

Officials at the transportation company where a recently fired employee fatally shot a former co-worker says it's suspending all work at the Texas facility and providing counselors to employees.

Knight Transportation released a statement confirming one of its employees was killed Wednesday during the shooting at its office in Katy, a city about 20 miles west of Houston. The company said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the family during this difficult time."

The Phoenix-based company also confirmed the gunman was a former worker, saying the shooting "was the action of a lone former employee, who also died as a result of today's events."

The statement didn't include information about the gunman or the victim, whose names haven't been released.

Harris County sheriff's officials said the gunman was fired from the company two weeks ago and stormed the office Wednesday morning with two guns. The sheriff's office said two other workers were injured but treated at the scene.

The company thanked law enforcement officers for their quick response. The company said it was doing "everything possible to ensure the safety of all of its employees."

Authorities say a man who was fired last month from a Houston-area transportation company stormed onto the property and declared his life was ruined before fatally shooting a co-worker.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says two other employees of Knight Transportation in Katy were wounded by shrapnel or other flying debris during the shooting Wednesday. None of the victims' names has been released.

Sheriff's spokesman Ralph Gonzales says the suspect was heard by co-workers saying something to the effect of, "you all ruined my life," before he opened fire. Gonzales didn't release the man's name, his previous job duties or why he was fired from the company two weeks ago.

The two injured employees were both men and treated at the scene. A sheriff's deputy sustained a knee injury while entering the site in Katy, 20 miles west of Houston.

Authorities say a man who fatally shot a former co-worker at a Houston-area transportation company had been fired from the business two weeks ago, not hours before the shooting.

Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said during a news conference that the gunman had been fired early Wednesday and then returned with a gun to the Knight Transportation office in Katy. But the sheriff's office later said it received misinformation, and that the gunman had been fired two weeks ago.

The sheriff's office also clarified that two workers were injured during the shooting, not just one. The office said both victims were men and wounded by shrapnel or other debris. They were treated at the scene.

Sheriff's spokesman Ralph Gonzales didn't release the gunman's name, his previous job duties or why he had been fired.
