BOISE, Idaho (AP) — St. Luke's Health System has agreed to give hospitals in McCall and Mountain Home back to their taxing districts as part of a settlement with the Idaho Attorney General's office.
The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/1PCG91h ) that the Attorney General's office found it was unconstitutional for St. Luke's to collect tax revenue from those district. The system acquired the McCall and Mountain Home hospitals under agreements that the districts would give St. Luke's their tax revenue to help fund hospital operations.
The combined revenue of those taxing districts was more than $3 million a year.
The Attorney General's office announced Tuesday that it had ended its investigation into the transactions and St. Luke's has agreed to lease the hospitals and pay operating cots instead.
