BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's solar energy industry is encouraging lawmakers to include solar projects in a production tax currently granted to other forms of renewable energy developers. A legislative panel met today to hear from solar energy developers and tax officials to discuss possible legislation for the 2016.

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — The city of Burley has been trying for two decades to find a new location for J.R. "Jack" Simplot Airport, which has been constrained by a highway, the Snake River and a city that grew around it. The Times-News reports that land-use issues and disagreement between the region's cities thwarted progress each time new locations were suggested.

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — The Nampa Police Department plans to change the way it handles sexual assault kits in the wake of concerns over low testing rates. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that Nampa detectives will ask all victims if they want their kit tested. The Nampa Police Department has collected more than 100 rape kits since 2010, but only 12 have been sent to the lab.

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Caldwell that sent one person to the hospital. KTVB-TV reports that Caldwell Police say an officer fired when a male suspect attempted to hit an officer with a vehicle. No officers were injured.
