WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Police say a group of burglars has been breaking into U.S. Postal Service trucks and stealing mail while the postal workers are making deliveries.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1LYPX8H ) that since July three trucks have been burglarized in the Cottonwood Heights, Taylorsville and Millcreek areas.
A U.S. Postal Inspectors Office agent says it is common to have thefts from mail boxes, but actual mail truck burglaries are far rarer.
West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku says investigators believe the thieves are also stealing from mailboxes and construction sites.
