CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio says he met with Gov. Brian Sandoval during his northern Nevada campaign tour this morning, but the two didn't discuss an endorsement. Sandoval told the Las Vegas Sun that Rubio is an "impressive guy" but also said that Rubio didn't seek an endorsement.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County residents will see a bump in their sales taxes next year to pay for a bigger police force. Clark County commissioners voted 6-1 today to raise the county's sales tax rate from 8.1 percent to 8.15 percent starting in January. It's projected to raise nearly $15 million so Las Vegas police can hire another 133 officers.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Well-known attorney Alan Dershowitz has joined the team for Sands China Ltd. in arguing for the dismissal of a wrongful termination lawsuit being pursued against the company. Dershowitz and Sands China lawyer Steve Morris appealed to the Nevada Supreme Court today to overrule a district court's decision that the case proceed against the company in Nevada.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Another part of the drought-ridden West is attempting to make water conservation sexy, this time with funny ads in Las Vegas. The Southern Nevada Water Authority this week launched a campaign on television, radio, print and social media themed: "There's Nothing Sexier Than Saving Water." Similar ads were unveiled in San Francisco in June.
