MOSCOW (AP) — A Kremlin aide says Russia and France have agreed on a refund amount for an undelivered French warship.
Vladimir Kozhin, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin, said Thursday in remarks carried by the RIA Novosti news agency that the two countries have completed their talks on how much France will pay for the failure to deliver the Mistral-class helicopter carrier. He wouldn't give the figure, saying it will be announced when the contract is cancelled.
French President Francois Hollande has acknowledged that France will have to give Russia a refund if it doesn't deliver the warship, whose handover to Russia was suspended last year over the Ukrainian crisis.
The 1.2 billion euro deal was supposed to be the biggest arms sale ever by a NATO country to Russia.
