JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Here's a look at 10 projects given preliminarily approval to share in $134 million in funding from BP PLC's $1 billion set-aside dedicated to recovery from its 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico:
GULFWIDE
$45 million: Sea turtle restoration mainly in Texas and Mexico, including at Padre Island National Seashore.
$20 million: Pelagic longline bycatch reduction, to reduce number of fish accidentally caught by longline fishermen.
ALABAMA
$8.05 million: Shell Belt and Coden Belt roads living shorelines, with breakwater to prevent erosion and promote marsh growth in Bayou La Batre and Coden.
$2.3 million: Point aux Pins living shoreline, with breakwater to prevent erosion and promote marsh growth near Bayou La Batre.
$545,000: Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge trail enhancement.
$45,000: Osprey nesting platforms at Portersville Bay, Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan, Little Lagoon of Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park.
FLORIDA
$136,700: Seagrass recovery at Gulf Islands National Seashore, turtle grass restoration at site in Santa Rosa County.
MISSISSIPPI
$30 million: Living shorelines and reefs at Grand Bay, Graveline Bay, Back Bay of Biloxi and St. Louis Bay.
$6.97 million: Bike and pedestrian enhancements at Davis Bayou Unit, Gulf Islands National Seashore in Ocean Springs.
TEXAS
$20.6 million: Bird rookery islands in Galveston Bay and East Matagorda Bay within Big Boggy National Wildlife Refuge.
